If you find that the switch position in your virtual cockpit can be set by changing the DataRef value (it is writable), this does not mean that you can use this particular DataRef instead of commands.
Often this dataref can be related only to the virtual switch animation, not taking effect on the aircraft system at all or affects only partially!
So, changing its value make sure that not only the switch position is changed on the screen but the system state is changes correctly.
