Hey,

i have build my fmc on the basis of the hispapanels fmc with simvim matrix and a 5" hdmi monitor 16:9 - 800x480 - I don't have a 4:3 5inch monitor / found only with s-video on aliexpress.

When I run simvim panel the fmc display are to small, how can I zoom this?

By the way great job, every button works on my build (some pictures below)!

Thanks mate!

Hi Olli,

After starting SimVimPanel (before loading the module), make sure the scaling option in the menu is set to "Real Size", and specify your screen width in millimeters (press Enter after typing the number). This should scale the panel to the intended real size.

If the scaling is still off, you can try specifying a slightly higher/lower screen width, and see when it fits.

Note that after the module is loaded, you can return to SimVimPanel's main menu by pressing "M", so you wouldn't need to quit when testing.

Hey,

the width and resolution lines makes no change... then i plug a normal screen on the pi and i can see the field (at FULL HD) for the width entry box, I write 117mm and plug my 5" display and It works, but not perfect, for the 5" 800x480 111mm are perfect.

But in the ini are another parameter called: Screen_Horizontal where the 111mm are inside, thanks for your help!

Yeah, sorry, got the option name wrong... it's Screen_Horizontal. :)

I'm working on the same project, with the same 800x480 display (1.6667 ratio).

As of now, the FMS display (.SIM file) has 1.227 ratio.

Question: is it possible to create a module file (e.g. FMS.SIM) with 1.6667 display ratio (or for that matter - any ratio value)? It doesn't seem so difficult to do...

Thanks again for your superb work! Worth every penny...

Regards, Sam

Hi Sam,

If you want to scale the module to a different aspect ratio, see this article - the second part of it describes how to do it.

Hi, Roman.

The settings.ini file works great in Windows! But where is the settings.ini file in the Raspbian file system? I can't find it.

Regards.
The "settings.ini" file is not included by default with the program, but it gets automatically created after you launch any panel module or change any settings. If it doesn't get created, check your SimVimPanel folder permissions, or just create the file yourself.

Hi Roman,

I have the same problem here I have tried many times to get the fmc display to zoom in I am using a pi4 forced at 640,480 4:3 ratio using a screen size of 5” my display size is 102mm x 76mm when I change the size to reflect the screen horizontal the fmc image disappears out of view, I can center it by changing the ini file to have H- 250 and V-250 but not able to zoom into the fmc text window what am I doing wrong ?

Using this on zibo and latest version of Hcsci I am well on with my 737 full scale build using your platform but this part has got me beat after spending nearly 6 hours yesterday tweeting the pi settings and changing the ini file finally finishing at 1am this morning my screen looks exactly like the pictures in the above post at the top
You can move the panel contents using the arrow keys (with Shift for faster movement or Alt for precise movement), then press Enter to save that offset, so that the panel will use it on the next load.
